Chair's Chat June 2011by David Collin, Busy Bees Embroidery
Here's something I don't think I wanted to hear myself say: Spring 2011 lasts until June 21st. Well we didn't have a big spring, just lots of rain and don't forget the cool temperatures when we didn't expect them. Then we jumped into the frying pan. But the really startling revelation is also on calendar. June 21st is the start of summer and at the same time the days will grow shorter and shorter and before you know it the snow will be flying and it's dark by 5 PM. Now, you know that when I throw out one of these stupendous revelations from facts we've all known forever, I have a request in here somewhere. This time I'm asking you to consider all the great opportunities your Chamber offers you. One is the new Chamber Business Boot camp about technology and your business. Last year I could hardly spell "customer relationship management" and now everybody is throwing those three initials, "CRM" at me left and right. I'd better get it figured out and I'm betting the Boot Camps will help me do just that.
No judgment here, but I am amazed more folks don't participate in the Boot Camps. It's only $75 for all of them or $15 each when you're able to show up. Why do I think I'm losing ground if I don't get this technology thing? And special thanks to our sponsors: American Eagle Credit Union, Stream Benefits Group and Wal-Mart. The point of this article: Please don't let the sun set on opportunities you didn't have to miss. Because of a temporary change in my work schedule I may be able to make 2 sessions of this Boot Camp. I'm looking forward to them. And I hope to see you there, too. Come on down! |
